We Are
The Club
Mersea Island Bowling Club was formed in 1932 as a limited company wholely owned by the members. We own the green, grounds and clubhouse outright. Everything is done by volunteers and we encourage all members to play a part and help where they can, making it a real members club.
We currently have around 90 members, both bowling and social.
The Bowling
Our bowling season is May - September each year on our outdoor green.
Casual bowling - you can just turn up and have a game on an empty rink.
Social bowling - Club Nights are every Monday and Friday evening .Club drives, friendly games against other clubs. We also arrange other, slightly more competitive events within the club.
League bowling - Our Ladies compete in the North West Essex league and the Men in the Colchester Borough leagues.
Competitive bowling - you will have the opportunity to compete in Club, Colchester Borough, Essex County or National competitions, either as an individual or part of a team. You will also be considered to represent the Club in similar competitions.
Where are we?
The club is situated in Yorick Road, West Mersea, 9 miles south of Colchester. We have ample parking, both on site and in Yorick Road. For a map click here
We are a thriving community, and even more so during the summer months. Part of that charm is that we are called Mersea Island for a reason. If you are visiting you might want to check the tide times.
